Prof. Dr. Pen-Nung Wanitchai, Department of Structural Engineering, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Director of the National Earthquake Research Center, said that Bangkok and its vicinity are 3 times more likely than usual to experience distant earthquakes, and many tall buildings swayed violently, causing damage.
